Measure an existing ring
Find a ring they already wear on the right finger. Measure the inside diameter in millimeters with a ruler, then match it to our chart below.
String or paper strip method
Wrap & measure
Wrap a thin string or paper strip around the base of the finger. Mark where it overlaps, measure the length in mm, then match to circumference on the chart.

Round to the nearest quarter size. If you fall between two sizes, round up — a ring can always be sized down more easily than up, and your finger will swell slightly in warm weather.

Pro tips from the bench
Five things every jeweler wishes you knew.
- 01Measure at the end of the day. Fingers swell with heat, salt, and activity — an evening measurement is closer to your true everyday size than a morning one.
- 02Wide bands run smaller. A 6mm-wide band feels noticeably tighter than a 2mm band on the same finger. Bump up a quarter or half size for bands wider than 5mm.
- 03Knuckles count. The ring needs to clear your knuckle but not spin on the base. If your knuckle is much larger than your base, size to the knuckle and we'll add a small sizing bar so it sits straight.
- 04Avoid cold hands. Cold fingers shrink up to half a size. If you just got home from a winter walk, wait 20 minutes before measuring.
- 05When in doubt, size up. Sizing down is a 15-minute fix on the bench. Sizing up beyond half a size often requires new metal and re-finishing. Your first resize within the first year is always on us.
